After almost a year of very few travels we decided to get our scuba certifications and take a trip to the keys. If you are interested in watching some video we took on our dives you can find them on Lumiri's YouTube channel.
We happened to be out for a walk on the evening of May 26th and saw the "super flower blood moon". I snapped some pictures with only my phone, so they aren't great, but the sight was stunning!
We were lucky to have a balcony on our hotel room in Marathon. We used it to dry our dive gear after rinsing everything in the bathroom.
We stopped at the public beach on Key West. What is that hiding there?
I know it is hard to make out, my camera did NOT want to focus on it. But it was the coolest little crab! He was determined to ignore that I was standing over him.
This lovely mural decorates the side of a karaoke bar that happened to be owned by the husband of the ENT we saw. We weren't able to visit but plan to return!
Nothing about this trip made me happier than seeing Lumiri push her bounds and be more comfortable. She snuck this selfie beside a pool :)
While in Key West we took the opportunity to visit Hemmingway's house. Hemmingway really adored his cats, and this little cemetery is where all his cats were laid to rest.
Even the crosswalks have pride in Key West!
We had dinner at the Shipwreck Cafe between our afternoon and evening dives with Horizon in Key Largo. The food was delicious, the staff friendly, and there was this really cool sword hanging above the bar. We highly recommend both Horizon and the cafe!
Our final dive of the trip was an evening dive off Key Largo. As a side benefit we saw a beautiful sunset on the boat ride out to the reef.
